Background
In August 2022, I made the decision to rehome Heidi, a Long-Haired Chihuahua cross. Welcoming her into my home has been one of the most rewarding choices I have ever made. I’ve created a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment in which she feels secure and able to flourish. The strong, loving bond we share brings immense personal fulfilment.
Heidi was originally a lockdown puppy and exhibited significant fear around other dogs and people. Since bringing her home, I have devoted considerable time to helping her build confidence through careful socialisation, a consistent daily routine, and a balanced, nutritious diet. I use praise and positive reinforcement to support her emotional development and encourage a sense of trust and curiosity.
Witnessing the transformation in Heidi’s behaviour and wellbeing has been deeply inspiring, and it has motivated me to want to share this experience and its impact with others.
